We are saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Charlie. Our boys have fond memories of your bicycling, swimming, and walking. You were an upstanding intellectual with a heart of gold. You will be missed and remembered. Rest In Peace.

Charlie always had a smile and a positive attitude. He was happy to go on any adventure, and looked forward to parties with family, friends and neighbors. His happy smile will be missed in our little neighborhood court.

I knew Charlie as Uncle Charlie for 50 years! He was one of the sweetest men I ever met! And, one of the funniest! He enjoyed people so much. And, more than anything, he loved his family! I will miss him, as will anyone who knew him! RIP dear one! ❤️

Charles was a gentleman and a scholar. He was good at his job, and was esteemed in his life. He will be missed.

Charles was a gentleman and a scholar in every sense of the word. He was unfailingly polite and respectful, and he saved the American Council on Education from embarrassment multiple times by correcting, prior to publication, the statistics, tables, and figures cited by less sophisticated ACE authors. After he retired he invited me to several Kennedy Center events and I got to see Charles's "other side" -- funny, adventurous, and kind.

What a splendid neighbor you were for 10 years Charlie. To watch you take walks, walk Sugar, and ride your 3-wheeled bike. Your birthday parties were fun with family and friends. And the holiday gatherings. You certainly loved dancing and the ladies. It was a pleasure to chat with you and to be called your friend. You will dearly be missed. Hey Charlie, “why not?”
