EZARIA EZAR ILKHANOFF
Ezaria Ezar Ilkhanoff, age 85, of Windsor Township, York County, PA passed away on September 3, 2019 after a long and courageous battle. Born in Moscow, Russia, Ezaria was the youngest of 10 children and was the son of the late Pariah Khnanoo and Benjamin Ilkhanoff.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Roxana Ilkhanoff, and his adoring sons, Bernard Ilkhanoff, Esquire, husband of Paula Silverstein, and Leonard Ilkhanoff, MD, husband of Mary Maycock, and his 6 grandchildren who he loved very much.
Before immigrating to the United States in August 1969, Ezaria was an Iranian boxer who became a member of Iran Senior National Boxing team in 1955, and also a member of Tehran Taj Club, boxing in the 51 kg division. He participated as a member of the Iranian Boxing Team at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, Japan in the Flyweight division and also at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy in the Flyweight division, and was also selected for the Flyweight division of the Iranian National Boxing team, to participate in the 1962 Asian Games. In Tokyo, Ezaria won the bronze medal in the 51kg boxing division. He also played on the Iranian National Soccer Team (2nd team).
His interests included fishing and sports, particularly boxing, soccer and tennis and spending time with family. His love of boxing led him to coaching disadvantaged youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. He coached several professional boxers and traveled throughout the United States for competitions. Ezaria loved people and was a devoted and loving family man, always ready to devote his time and energy to those he loved. Ezaria was proud of being an Assyrian and enjoyed his gatherings with other Assyrians.
A Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the De Vol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD with the Reverend Sylvan Capitani officiating. Guests will be received prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
