Annette Marie Goldschmidt died peacefully in her sleep on January 24, 2019. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jerome Goldschmidt; four children David (Susan), Karen (Doug), Ann (David), Jay (Karri); eleven grandchildren and five sisters. Annette was preceded in death by her parents and two of her sisters.
Annette was born on July 9, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to Mary Hemmelgarn and Joseph Oswald Grillot. She was the oldest of eight sisters. She graduated valedictorian of Russia High School and received a B.A. from the University of Dayton. She married Jerry in 1960, worked several years as a grade school teacher until she left to raise her four children. She went on to become a manager at Woodward & Lothrop before retiring in 1990. Annette was an avid tennis and bridge player. She loved art and volunteered at the National Gallery of Art for over 20 years until she had to stop in 2013 due to aphasia.
Annette enjoyed spending time with people. She was known for her kindness, gentleness, friendliness, graciousness and love of those around her. Her family was especially important to her and she was always eager to spend time with her children, grandchildren, sisters and many friends. Annette was full of life, laughter, love and joy. She made everybody she came in contact with feel special.
The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Mercy in Potomac, Maryland on Saturday, February 9 at 12:30 pm, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s and a reception at the Bolger Center, 9600 Newbridge Dr. Potomac, MD, starting at 3 pm. Donations may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
