Dear Friends of Marion Labbe Eckel,
I am very sad to inform you that Marion passed away suddenly on Friday morning, September 21, 2018 in Boyds, Maryland, where she lived. She had struggled through Thursday night with nausea from a new medication, but by the morning, she was having trouble breathing. We called an ambulance to take her to the hospital, but her heart stopped beating on the way. The ambulance crew and staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital tried for what seemed like forever to revive her, but she never regained consciousness. At just age 56, she was an accomplished flower gardener, flower arranger, and photographer, and (to pay for all these wonderful hobbies) an exacting trusts and estates specialist (paralegal) at the law firm of Venable LLP. She loved helping people through the devastating and complicated time following the death of a loved one and especially loved making people happy with home-grown, home-made flower arrangements and beautifully made cookies.
She is survived by Matthew Edward Eckel, her husband of 23 wonderful years, her mother, Marolyn May Curry, her father Theodore Paul Labbe, and her three helicopter-pilot brothers, Wilfred Theodore Labbe, Jeffrey Dale Labbe, and John Douglas Labbe of whom she was immensely proud. She is also survived by her cherished “fur-babies,” goldendoodles Charlie and Lucy, and her ginger kitties, Bosley, Linus, and Schroeder.
A memorial service for her will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 5, 2018 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, Maryland, 20841. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County at awlfc.org.
