Ilse Elizabeth Putman, 80, of Gaithersburg, MD and a resident of Tranquility at Fredericktowne passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 with her family by her side. Mrs. Putman was born in Germany. She moved to the United States in 1956 and worked as a nanny for a diplomat’s family at the German Embassy. Ilse attended English classes in Arlington, VA where she met Jean-Pierre Putman and married in 1960. They moved to Gaithersburg in 1966 where they raised two sons, Emmanuel Jean-Pierre and Michael Gerard Putman. Mrs. Putman dedicated 40 years to NIST working in Publications and the Library. She retired in 2012 and moved to Tranquility at Fredericktowne to be closer to her family. Mrs. Putman was the beloved wife of the late Jean-Pierre Putman who passed in 1994; loving mother of Emmanuel Jean-Pierre Putman and wife Marlen, and Michael Gerard Putman; grandmother of Chad, Brett, Charles, Katherine and Richard; sister of Walter Morgenroth and Gisela Hayes. She was preceded in death by two siblings Helga and Hans Morgenroth. Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
