Anita Louise Miller was born July 20, 1939 in Lilly, PA to Brady and Marcella Leahey. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones.
Anita graduated from high school and devoted her life to care giving. This devotion started as a young adult when she cared for her mom for 2 years even though she was married to John and he was working in Maryland. She worked many years with sick children and ended her career caring for the elderly in Rockville, MD. She retired from the Hebrew Home after 25 years of service on the 11-7 shift.
She married John Garman Miller on May 24, 1969 at her home church of St. Brigid’s Church in Lilly, PA. After their marriage John took a job at Walter Reed in Washington D.C. and they eventually relocated to Maryland. They celebrated 26 years of marriage before John lost his battle with colon cancer. In this 26 year union they welcomed a son Kevin and six years later a daughter Kathleen (Kathy). Anita lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her daily trips for coffee, attending mass, watching lifetime movies and people watching. She was the epitome of punctuality.
Anita is survived by her children, Kevin and daughter in law Karen Miller, Kathy and her son in law Aaron Tucker; five loving grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Aaron Jr, Andrew, Noah and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by all of her siblings, sister Dorothy Eckenrode, brothers Leonard, Kenneth, Harold, Elwood and Norbert Leahey.
