It is with great reverence, we announce the peaceful passing of our 82 year old father Mike M. Nakamura on April 30, 2018 at his home of 46 years in Bethesda, Maryland. Survived by his wife of 55 years Evangelina T. Nakamura, daughter Martha Eva Steele and husband Craig Steele of Honolulu Hawaii, son Michael Vincent Nakamura, wife Carol Nakamura, and grandsons Brian Nakamura, Mark Nakamura of Rockville, Maryland, and Patrick Long of Santa Ana, California.
Mike was born on May 15, 1935 in Seto, Japan and without knowing English, immigrated and became a U.S. citizen in the 1950's in search of a better life. He met his wife Eva Trevino at Church Bingo at Sacred Heart Church in Washington, D.C. He worked day and night and graduated with a degree in Economics from The American University in Washington, D.C., and then fell in love with the restaurant business. He was a waiter and maitre D at Trader Vic's during its heyday, and rubbed elbows with celebrities, athletes and even Presidents. In later years, he was a popular bartender at Kenwood Country Club. He was a parishioner of Little Flower Church in Bethesda, Maryland since 1972.
Per Mike's wishes, services and interment are private.
