Felicisimo “Phil” Balcita, age 93 joined our Creator peacefully on January 30, 2018, at the home of his only child Ray Balcita and wife Marilyn.
Phil was born in San Pablo Laguna, Philippines. He was a World War II Veteran, serving as a Philippine Military Police in his younger years alongside American troops. He studied Accounting at the Far Eastern University in Manila.
In 1963, Phil, his late wife Luz and son Ray immigrated to the US. They settled in Kensington Maryland working for Safeway until they retired in their early 60s.This couple traveled extensively after retirement, visiting Europe and Asia then lived in Palm Coast Florida for more than 18 years until his loving wife died in 2010.
Ray and Marilyn offered to build an extension in their home so he can continue to spend quality time with them and pet, Harley. He enjoyed traveling with Ray, Marilyn and family to Madrid, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Canada and many other places. He loved his independence, easily bonded with the expansive Balaan family, and friends.
In addition to Ray and Marilyn, Phil will be lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law Dr. Cezar and Zony Navarro from Madrid Spain, his sister-in-law Angie Almalel and family from Maryland, his nephew Horace and Nelly Avanzado from Canada, his grandniece, Malou Ejerta and family from New York, the Balcita and Almalel families here and abroad.
Viewing will be held at Mother Seton Church on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Mother Seton Church is located at 9951 Father Hurley Boulevard Germantown, MD 20874.
