Agnieszka Magdalena Gawin-Wnek, beloved wife of Janusz and mother of seven: Patricia (25), Paul (23), Matthew (22), Anne-Marie (13), Michael (12), John Paul (10), and Elizabeth (9), as well as two unborn babies, Nicky and Michael Jan, was born on November 28, 1969, in Warsaw, Poland. She passed on to Eternal Life† on November 7, 2017 at 12:40 pm at home in Germantown, Maryland, in the presence of her husband and a friend. Shortly before her death, Holy Mass was celebrated in her room by Father Ben Garcia and she received Holy Communion together with her husband, children, parents, Aleksander and Marianna Gawin, and a friend, Marlene. In the days prior, she received the Sacraments of Penance, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Communion daily.
Agnieszka was gifted with many talents which she diligently developed and tirelessly spread. She was widely known as a talented musician, majoring in voice with awards from Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, being placed on the National Dean’s List every year of her studies. She shared her beautiful soprano voice in many recital performances, recorded a CD, as well as sang in churches and cantored during Masses. Her professional appearances became less frequent when she and her husband, Janusz, started their family: Focusing on moral education, spiritual formation of their children, and fully devoting her time and talent to the glory of God. Her spiritual development, on the other hand, began with her involvement in the Oasis (Oaza) movement in Poland, and upon immigrating to the United States at the age of 17, she continued her religious growth by listening to the Christian radio programs and then Catholic radio, as soon as it became available in the area. She attended multiple faith-building retreats, including yearly homeschooling conferences, listened to hundreds of spiritual audio tapes and CDs, as well as, together with her husband, read the Bible, Catechism of the Catholic Church, studied papal encyclicals, and collected and read many spiritual books and readings. The acquired knowledge enabled her to spread the Word of God and stand for the Truth with zeal and perseverance.
Agnieszka ran the race to her final moment, teaching her children, attending their music lessons, and guiding and monitoring their daily practice. Besides educating her own children, she also taught Confirmation class and Faith Discernment in the Baptismal Preparation program at her parish. She was a great gift from God to her family, the Church Militant, and those who had the blessing of knowing her. Agnieszka will be missed tremendously until we are able to join her within the Church Triumphant.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 1513 Dunster Road, Rockville, MD 20854 on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11 am with viewing to start at 10:30 am. Interment All Souls Cemetery, Germantown, MD.
The family of Agnieszka M. Gawin-Wnek would like to invite friends to attend a reception after the burial at All Souls Cemetery at the Msgr Wells Center (Mother Seton Catholic Church) 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown,MD 20874.
