James "Keith" Bartlett

Keith Bartlett, of Germantown, Maryland, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 9, after a hard-fought battle with COPD. Keith was born on April 5, 1945 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Virginia Lee Behan and Richard Kenneth Bartlett. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969. Keith worked as a Master Electrician for the Architect of the Capitol for over 30 years and retired in 2011. On September 25, 2010, Keith married the love of his life and best friend, Jean Bartlett.

Keith is the cherished father of Bryan (Angie) and Barry (Kathie) Bartlett and Mike (Kristy) Dalton; beloved “Gramps” of Bryson, Natalie, James, Brynn, Jamie, Matthew, and Kayleigh; and devoted friend and family member to many. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard (Janice), Eddie (Marge), and Butch (Mary Beth) and survived by siblings, Barbara (Bill), Walter (Janet), Valla (Larry), Kay (Johnny), Gary (Cathy), John (Mary Reece), and Linda (Russell).

Keith will be greatly missed and forever remembered for his humor, his stubbornness, his strength, and his tremendous heart. He leaves behind him countless happy memories in the minds and hearts of all those who knew him and an unending legacy of love.

Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the FOP Lodge, 2905 Old Largo Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 1-4 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith’s name to the American Lung Association (
