Paula Carrie (Shoop) Deslauries
Born November 6, 1955 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband of 37+ years David J. Deslauriers and sons Bryan E. (Leeann) and David P. (Anna) Deslauriers and 2 grandsons Ethan and Logan and 2 granddaughters Madison and Summer. She also is survived by her 2 sisters Deborah (Don) and Rebecca (John).
I met Carrie in 1977. My friend Mike Sullivan had asked me to help move some heavy things at his girlfriends house. I already knew Karen thru Mike. When finished Carrie's only way home was with Mike and I. the problem was Mike's truck only sat 2 (a Datsun, think); so it took some convincing to get Carrie to sit on my lap, but she relented. Within a week I called and asked her out. We lived together 2 years before getting married in 1980.
Her work experience included GEICO, IBM, Weis Markets, Dr. Daniel Jaller, M.D., Dr. Gerard Boguel, D.D.S. et al. Somewhere in there (I think between IBM & Weis Markets) she had (we had) 2 beautiful boys - Bryan and David 20 months apart.
Sometime in 1991, Carrie convinced me to take my job at NSA to Harrogate, England. What a great experience for all of us, both personally and professionally. London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Germany, Austria - too many to list. We stayed with friends (Lockmans) in Bad Aibling, Germany Christmas week (1994 I think). Skiing the Bavarian Alps was unbelievably cool! Carrie didn't ski, she shopped with our hostess. I actually got Carrie to the top of the Eiffel Tower, even though she didn't like heights. Summer of 1995 we returned and Carrie again worked for Dr. Boguel. What a fantastic office staff! Always ready to help. Carrie had surgery in /March 2013 and caught an infection. She fought harder than anyone could have imagined, but finally succumbed last Saturday.
She loved and was loved by many!! My heart aches!
