Bill Hancock of Germantown, Maryland passed away on June 25, 2017 at age 83. He was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. He attended the University of Kansas where he received a Bachelor’s in Art and Design. From there he served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, which eventually led him to the Washington, DC area.
He spent the past 57-years as a Maryland resident. He was a realtor/developer, custom home builder, architect, and artist. He continued to draw plans and advise on home building until his passing.
He was a long-standing member and former president of both the Montgomery County Builders Association; and the Montgomery County Students Construction Trades Foundation. He was a lifelong member of the brotherhood of Masons.
He is survived by his three children, Mike Hancock, Alison Hancock (Danny Fautrel), and Beth Hancock; his six grandchildren, Bill, Tori and Sydney Hancock; and Jackson Styslinger; and Ashton and Devin Sterling; and his loving partner of over 35 years, “Toodle” Louise Shipley.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 30, 2017, with an open house from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. with toasts and remarks at 2:00 p.m., located at the Hancock Residence at 21721 Brink Meadow Lane, Germantown, MD 20876.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for a deserving student in the MCPS Construction Trades Foundation Program. Donations may be sent to the Construction Trades Foundation Office, 12501 Dalewood Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20906. Please earmark "Hancock Scholarship Fund."
