Chaug-Ming Lin, of Potomac, Maryland, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in Holy Cross Hospital Silver Spring after a brave battle against nasopharyngeal cancer.
Born in Taichung, Taiwan on January 14, 1955 to Yan-Huei and Chen Ren Lin, Chaug-Ming was an excellent student and a class leader. He was the first of his family to attend university, National Taiwan University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1977.
Chaug-Ming went on to the United States to complete a Masters program in Chemical Engineering at Penn State in 1980 and earned his PhD at Purdue University in 1986. He was a hard worker but always made time for his friends, hosting many activities while serving as President of the Taiwanese Student Association at Purdue.
Chaug-Ming was an avid hiker and outdoor adventurer, a natural born leader. He enjoyed organizing numerous trips with his friends and their families every month in the DMV area.
Chaug-Ming is survived by his beloved wife, Shujan, his daughter Rita, and his son Eugene.
Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 Monday June 19, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. where services will be held at 11:00 A.M.
