Shirley Ann Julian, 82, currently of Germantown and formerly of Bethesda, passed away on June 11, 2017. She was born in Gaithersburg, Maryland, to the late Oscar and Ruth “Julie” Stottlemeyer. Shirley graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in the class of 1952, where she was active in cheerleading and softball. She went on to work as a fiscal officer at the David Taylor Naval Research Center, then in retirement worked at the Little Bennett and Hampshire Greens golf courses. An avid Miami Dolphins fan, Shirley also enjoyed watching golf, dancing, listening to Frank Sinatra and other crooners, and the beach. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Loving mother of Harry “Bill” William Julian, IV (Lisa Marie) and Wendy Lee Julian (Bobby Ashton); cherished grandmother of Juliann Nicole Whitney, Colin William Julian, and Michelle Lowe; “Bonus Grandmother” of Erin and Steven Wingo; “Bonus Great-Grandmother” of Conner and Tyler Wingo; loving great-grandmother of Olivia Paige and Bentley Jacob; devoted friend of “The Gina’s”; and survived by many more friends and family. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, son John Michael Julian, brother William “Bill” O. Stottlemeyer, and ex-husband Harry “Bill” William Julian, III.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877, where a service will also be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Rockville, MD.
