Richard Herbert Romano, 75 died peacefully on Friday, April 28th in Rockville, Maryland. Born in New Hyde Park, New York on January 8,1942, Rich was the son of Domenick and Isabelle (Adago) Romano. He graduated from Sewanhaka High School, class of 1959. After graduation from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Rich joined the Navy and became a plane captain, and served on the carrier "USS Forrestal".

Rich is survived by his Beloved Wife of 49 years Claudette (Johnson) Romano; son Jason Romano (Melissa), daughter Alicia Romano (Wren) and three grandchildren. Rich is also survived by his siblings; Rosemarie Hutchins, Lorraine Scialdone, Lillian Romano and William Romano, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Rich was an avid gardener known as "The Pepper Man" to many; although he received awards for hot peppers and many other varieties of vegetables and fruit. He was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation and loved to share his garden seedlings and growing advice with anyone who would plant them. He retired from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration and spent his retirement years enjoying his family, his three grandsons, friends and his garden.

A "Celebration of Richard's Life" will be held on Friday, May 12th at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive in Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Faith visitation will begin at 10 AM with services at 11 AM. Interment will be at 12 PM at Boyds Presbyterian Church Cemetery located at 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, MD  20841, with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
