Meghan Gayle Berniece Hendricksen was born June 26, 2003, at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, to Paul David and Angie Hardy Hendricksen. She was the youngest of four children. She was welcomed home into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at 9:21 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2017, following complications from a valiant 2 1/2 month battle with acute respiratory distress syndrome, influenza, and necrotizing pneumonia.
Meghan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and participated in several team-teaching experiences with other young women in her Beehive Class. She also carried a current limited-use temple recommend which she utilized at every opportunity to perform vicarious ordinances for ancestors in the temple.
Meghan loved reading and music. Books from a wide variety of genres were her constant companions; she seldom went anywhere without one, even if she was only going for a few minutes. She would often be seen with earbuds firmly in place, swaying in time to her current music selection or singing along silently with one of her favorite groups.
Meghan was known as a sweet and kind eighth grader at Neelsville Middle School where the absence of her genuine, caring attitude will leave a sad void. Her infectious smile and the ever-present mischievous twinkle in her sparkling blue eyes will be greatly missed by all who have been blessed to know and love her. Meghan was a fierce warrior with an amazing strength of purpose. Her often quiet, shy demeanor couldn’t hide the light and fire in her eyes which were present until the very end. Meghan never gave up! She just let go to return home!
Meghan is survived by her parents, Paul and Angie Hendricksen; her three siblings, Daniel Paul, Amelia Mayleen, and Steven; her grandparents, David and Mayleen Hendricksen and Gayle Hardy, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services for Meghan will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11:00 am following a visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 am, all at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20020 Montgomery Village Ave., Montgomery Village, MD 20886.
Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, in the Charleston Utah Cemetery.
