Marshall (Brian); grandmother of Mary kate Farmer, Shea Wishard, Andrew Matheson, Brian Marshall and Kevin Marshall; great grandmother of Austin Matheson, Kaitlyn Farmer and Charlie Wishard.
Mom was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. Along with four brothers and three sisters they weathered the Great Depression and WWII with family games, sports, music. They were a devoted Catholic family. She attended Catholic grade school and graduated from Towson Catholic High School in 1947 where she participated in basketball, theatre and yearbook. After graduation, she worked at the telephone company for five years.
In 1950 she was married to Robert Davis Horney and they had two daughters, my sister Kat and me. Mom was active at St. Martins Catholic Church from 1962 2005 as a parent school volunteer teaching reading. Mom also was one of the first women lectors and participated in the altar guild, was a RCIA leader and sponsor. She was elected to the Parish Council including as Co-Chair. She continued her volunteer service when she moved in 2005 and attended Holy Family Catholic Community. Her faith was of great importance and a great comfort to her. Mom always wanted to be a nurse, but had to work after her high school graduation, and did not have the opportunity or means to attend college. She eventually acquired a job in an orthopedic surgeon's office, assisting several surgeons with patient visits from 1969 until her retirement 28 years later. She loved her children and grandchildren and attended many a ball game, play or music recital. Mom was overjoyed to be a great-grandmother.
