George Alexander Aubrey, Colonel, U.S. Army Retired, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 25, 2014 at the age of 97. At the time of his passing, George was surrounded by his family and listening to Beethoven. Born in Annapolis, MD May 12, 1917. Graduated from U.S. Military Academy, West Point, 1940. Served in Europe, WWII, from Normandy to war�s end, earning five battle stars, and in the Army of Occupation of Germany. Attended the Army Command and General Staff College, the Armed Forces Staff College and the National War College. He had several command assignments in field artillery, training and air defense and served on the Army General Staff, the Joint Staff and the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was Assistant Army Attache in Warsaw, Poland 1954-1956, and Army Attache in Moscow, USSR, 1963-1964. His decorations include: two bronze stars, two legion of merits and the Army distinguished service medal. He was awarded the Army General Staff Identification Device and also the Department of Defense badge for service on the Joint Staff. Two weeks before his passing, George was named a "Chevalier" of the French Legion of Honor, as a sign of France's gratitude for his personal contribution to the liberation of France during World War II.
Retired from the Army, December 1965 and from Rockwell International in April 1976. His first wife, LaVerne Willoughby died in November 1970 and a daughter, Susan Pichosky died in November 1995. He is survived by: his wife, Jean; his daughter, Martha Montague (Jamie); his son-in-law David Pichosky (Lucy); his stepchildren Missy Willett, Andrea Pritchard (Mark), Greg Willett, Tracy Jennison (Dick); grandsons, Richard Willett, Jack Pichosky, David Willett, Alexander �Alec� Jennison and Blake Pritchard; and great grandson Paxton Pichosky. A memorial service will be held at the Guild Chapel at Asbury Methodist Village, 211 Russell Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 3 pm.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA 22211 on Monday June 22, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Please assemble at the cemetery by 2:30 p.m.
