He is also survived by five adoring grandchildren: Ayanna, Lucia, Ava, Mateo and Caroline. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church in Bethesda, MD.
Greg brought light and laughter to our lives. As a father, he was present, patient and bigger than life. He somehow made the mundanity of everyday life fun and exciting. He sang into vacuum cleaners with us, took us cross-country skiing through Brookmont, created unique worlds and stories, attended countless sporting events, skated with us on the frozen canal, and was always good for sharing a laugh or a giggle. Before he was a husband, father and grandfather, his adventures included being a bat boy for the Brooklyn Dodgers, starting a dating service in college, being a ski patrol in upstate New York, hanging in a Woodstock cafe with [unnamed] folk singers, and countless other experiences we didn’t get a chance to hear.
He spent much of his career serving people in need, at the most vulnerable times in their lives. He did this in a humble and unassuming way. He was decent at his core. He left us way too soon, but he leaves a legacy of love, light, service and humility for us to carry with us every day. We love you.
