She married William at St. Brendan's Church in Castleconnor, County Sligo on January 4, 1950. Their son Michael was born in 1952 and they immigrated to America for the first time in 1954. They returned to Ireland where their son Eamonn was born in 1958, then returned to America for good in 1959 where their son Sean was born in 1960. Philomena was a hard worker. The Culkins were lifelong members of the Irish American Club and enjoyed many a waltz around the floor of the IAC dances. She wanted her children to know their Irish history and love the music and dance of Ireland as she did. Her family and her home were her pride and joy. In her kitchen you could always find a cup of tea and a cup of soda bread, the best around. She was a woman of strong faith and was devoted to the rosary.
