Guiomar R. Aguirre-Vivas (Age 61)
On Friday, September 14, 2018, Guiomar R. Aguirre-Vivas died peacefully with her family by her side, in Washington, DC after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years,
Pablo A. Vivas and her four children - her daughter Cristina "Nina" M. (Vivas) Keating; her sons Eduardo Vivas-Aguirre, Carlos Vivas-Aguirre, and Pablo Antonio Vivas-Aguirre; her grandchildren Connor X. Keating and Patrick J. Keating and son-in-law Sean Keating. She was adored by her surviving siblings, Gladys Matus-Aguirre, Francisco Aguirre-Sacasa, Mariangeles Barbi, Rafael Aguirre-Sacasa, and Alejandra Aguirre. She was also a beloved aunt and friend to so many.
Guiomar "Mai" was born and raised in Washington, DC, on January 26, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Francisco Aguirre-Baca and Gladys Aguirre (Sacasa-Salinas). She attended Stone Ridge High School in Bethesda, MD and graduated from American University in Washington, DC. She went on to become a Travel Agent at American Express Travel for over 35 years. Mai was the heart and soul of her family. A constant entertainer, she opened up her home for every and any occasion. Her love knew no bounds and she spent her life nurturing and caring for her children, nieces and nephews, and her grand-children. Her laugh and smile were contagious and she saw the best in everyone no matter what. Her positive spirit and caring personality will always be remembered by all that were touched by her. She was the heart of her family.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Little Flower Church, 5601 Massachusetts Ave., Bethesda, MD 20816 on September 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial arrangements will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church of St. Catherine Labouré, 11801 Claridge Road, Wheaton, MD 20902.
