James Michael “Jim” Sullivan, a longtime resident of Potomac, MD, passed away on September 1, 2018 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born on July 15, 1943 in Cambridge, MA to the late Ben and Edith Sullivan and was the beloved husband of 52 years to Joan. He was the loving father of Jim Jr. (Lucy) Sullivan, Katie (Bob) Tyson and Brian (Jen) Sullivan and the late Patricia Sullivan. He was a joyful grandfather to Beatrice and Mary Agnes Sullivan; Molly, Emma and the late Maggie Tyson; Jack, Abby, Brendan, Elizabeth and Patrick Sullivan and brother to Dave and the late Bob Sullivan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Jim attended Boston College for his undergraduate business degree and the University of Connecticut for his MBA and he enjoyed a varied and rewarding career, most notable was his more than twenty-five years as an Executive at Marriott International.
Jim was very involved in his community and with the Catholic Church, serving in leadership roles in numerous organizations. He was especially proud of being a Co-Founder and President of Potomac Community Resources, Inc., an organization that serves teens and adults with developmental differences.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, MD where Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, September 6 at 12 Noon. Interment Private. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family through donations to Potomac Community Resources Inc.
