Jack Conaghan was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 21, 1932. As a young boy in Tennessee, he survived being hit by a milk truck at the age of 2 and, later, at the age of 4, a serious case of polio that left him paralyzed for a year. Jack Conaghan graduated from St. John’s College Preparatory School (1951), Georgetown University (1955) and Georgetown University Dental School (1959). He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years prior to starting his dental practice downtown. Jack practiced dentistry for 30 years on K Street and was loved by his patients for his smile and big personality. He also quietly provided pro bono dental services to the poor on Saturday mornings throughout his career and enjoyed bringing his children with him as he delivered Thanksgiving meals to needy families. Jack was an avid tennis player and real estate speculator. He loved being Irish.
