Christian Hans Broder
A kind, sincere, and extraordinary man passed away on July 20, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. The oldest of four, Christian was born in Dallas, Texas on January 1, 1984 to Sue and Charlie Broder. At the age of 13, the Broder family moved to Horseshoe Farm in Stockbridge, Georgia. A graduate of Woodward Academy, Christian attended College of Charleston where he met his future wife, Molly (nee Simonson). While in Charleston, Christian developed his love of food and wine. After working at several beloved restaurants in Charleston, Christian and Molly relocated to Washington, DC where he became a general manager at Georgetown Events, seasonally managed Millie's Nantucket and most recently helped develop and open Millie's Spring Valley.
Christian enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He had an endless supply of "dad jokes", loved Arsenal soccer and strumming a guitar, and basked in the quiet mornings he spent each day with his daughter, dog, and a pot of black coffee. A sommelier by trade, Christian shared his passion for a good glass of wine with anyone in pouring distance. His kindness, humility, affable nature, and generosity were felt by all those who came in contact with him.
Christian leaves behind his beloved wife, Molly, their beautiful daughter, Frances, and their dog, Dan. Christian is survived by his parents, Sue and Charlie, his siblings, Nicholas, Caroline and William, as well as countless other family members and friends.
A celebration of eternal life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, Christian's family asks that donations be made to the American Red Cross in Christian's name and to please consider giving blood.
In the words of Christian, "We'll miss you, you ol' so-and-so."
