![]() Elena Gontcharova (Age 63) Of Bethesda, MD, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Washington, DC. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Alexander Gontcharov; devoted mother of Natalie Gontcharova and husband, Nicholas Carbone; and loving sister of Natalia Sharnova and husband, Boris. She was born in Yerevan, Armenia, lived in Moscow for over 20 years, and moved to District of Columbia. in 1993. She was devoted to her family and a kind, selfless, and courageous spirit. She brightened our lives daily. She was a gifted piano player who lit up our souls with music, a reader who loved to discuss history and ideas, and a kind ear who was always there with advice. She was a detailed planner with beautiful taste. She wished for peace in the world. Her World Bank colleagues will remember her hard work and compassion. She will be missed by friends and family in District of Columbia. and Moscow, which she visited often and where her parents are buried. A Russian Orthodox service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at St. Nicholas Cathedral, 3500 Massachusetts Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Leukemia Research Foundation or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research |
