Carlos E. Bonilla
Died on February 28, 2018, Carlos was born on July 26, 1954, in Washington to Gladys Hardy Bonilla and Lempira Bonilla. He spent most of his childhood in the Washington area, interspersed with visits to his parents’ home country of Honduras. He graduated from Georgetown Prep, American University (B.A), and Georgetown University (M.A.) before a successful career as an economist and policy influencer, culminating with his service on the National Economic Council during the George W. Bush administration. With his intelligence, compassion, and wit he touched the lives of many. He is survived by his children Peter Bonilla, Christian Bonilla, and Charlotte Bonilla and his grandson Cameron Bonilla, to whom he will always be “Poppy.” Family will receive visitors at DeVol Funeral Home, 2222 Wisconsin Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20007 on Tuesday, March 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Complimentary valet parking provided.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those inclined donate instead to the Rotary Fund, whose scholarship programs brought Carlos's father from Honduras to America nearly seventy years ago and which bring opportunity to countless individuals in search of a better life.
