On February 4, 2018 Osvalda Chiarelli Muzzatti, known as Ozzie or Nonna, died peacefully in her sleep holding her sister's hand. She was 90. She was preceded in death by her husband Natale Muzzatti.
She was the mother of Luciano Muzzatti (Michele Lewis-Muzzatti), Marcello Muzzatti (Betty Ballester), Mirella Muzzatti Arroyo (Thomas Arroyo), Giuliana Muzzatti Canan (Scott Canan), and Vittorio Muzzatti (Lilly Trello Muzzatti).
She was the sister of Maria Chiarelli Dal Molin, (Elio Dal Molin) in Silver Spring Md. and Flaminia Chiarelli Scassa of L’Aquila Italy. She was predeceased by her brother, Amilcare Chiarelli.
She was the devoted aunt of Laura Dal Molin Fincham (Mark), Gabriella Dal Molin Bedor (Greg), and Carla Chiarelli. She was the great aunt of Marco Fincham.
She was the caring grandmother of 16 grandchildren: Tony Muzzatti, Nick Muzzatti (Catherine), Matt Muzzatti (April), Michael Hunter (Tessa), Bryan Sanford (Michelle),Daniel Sanford, Bradley Sanford, Mackinley Canan, Riley Canan, Natalie Canan, Sofia Muzzatti, Julia Muzzatti, Kelly Fouche (JD), Allison Arroyo(Ryan), Jennifer Ewanciew (Greg), and Nicole Arroyo.
She had 7 great grandchildren who put smiles on her face: Olivia Muzzatti, Lea Muzzatti, Harper Muzzatti, Charlotte Hunter, Cameron Hunter, Lucy Fouche and Nick Fouche.
Ozzie was born November 14, 1927, in a very small town called Lucoli, in L’Aquila Italy. She fulfilled her dream to come to American in January of 1950. Once arrived, she settled in Washington D.C. Ozzie married Natale Muzzatti and shortly thereafter had 5 children. During her years in Washington, she was dressmaker for a number of the Washington elite and to many families of the Tenleytown neighborhood. She volunteered at St Johns College High School, numerous churches and at the Washington Hospice Center. Ozzie loved to entertain at her home. She always had kind words for others and lived her life by the golden rule, do to others what you want them to do to you. She will be missed.
Her wishes are for no wake or funeral service and her burial will be private.
