MARGARET MARY ROSE
Born July 18, 1946 in St. Paul, MN, Margaret Mary Rose passed away at her home in Washington, DC on December 21, 2017.Born on July 18, 1946 in St. Paul, MN, Margaret Mary Rose died peacefully in her home on December 21, 2017 at age 71. The cause of death was complications from end-stage Parkinson's Disease. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Rose ("Ed Angel") who died on November 16, 1992.
Margaret Mary retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation where she worked as an Exhibits Specialist: Special Projects Section.
The daughter of Chief Justice and Mrs. Warren E. Burger, Margaret Mary moved with her parents to the D.C. area at age 10 from St. Paul. She graduated from Stone Ridge Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Rockville, MD in 1965. From 1965 to 1966 she attended a special course in intermediate French for foreign students at College Mont Olivet in Lausanne, Switzerland and participated for a second year (1966 to 1967) in a special course for foreign students at Ecole du Sacre-Coeur in Paris.
She was received into the Roman Catholic faith on September 8,1966 in the private chapel of the Apostalic Delegation by the late Cardinal Egidio Vagnozzi. She has been a faithful attendant at Old St. Mary's Church in Washington, DC and at the Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine of The Holy Family. She was an active member of Legion of Mary, a charter lifetime member of the Catholic Historical Society of Washington, D.C., member of the St. Augustine Center Association, member of the Mariological Society of America, member of the Knights of The Immaculta (founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe OFM-CONV.), and life-long friend, benefactress and admirer of the Conventual Franciscan Friars of Marytown in Libertyville, IL.
Margaret Mary's hobbies included collecting "Leprechaun" hankies, making Brother Juniper refrigerator magnets, and making cards, rosaries, and re-decorating box covers.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Edward J. Rose, her parents, Chief Justice and Mrs. Warren E. Burger, and her brother, Wade Allan Burger. she is survived by her sister-in-law, Leonora Burger, her nieces, Lindsey Burger and Annie Barber, and close friends including Father James McCurry and Rosalie Contreras. The family would like to express their appreciation to Margaret Mary's devoted caregivers Pamela Turner-Douglas and Juliana Abrams.
Visitation will be held at Old St. Mary's Church, 727 Fifth St., NW, Washington, DC. on December 27, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a Traditional Latin Requiem Mass at 3 p.m. Graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. on December 29 at St. John's Cemetery, 664 Allen Street.,(Entrance Gate- Funeral Home will be there to assist ) New Bedford, MA.
Grave site inside the cemetery is at 6th Avenue, Section 1, Lot 885E, Grave #1
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Coalition Ecclesia Dei, or the Conventual Franciscan Friars of Marytown, Inc.
