Reverend Monsignor William James Kane
February 27, 1934 - December 8, 2017
Born in Washington DC. He is survived by his niece, Patricia W. Newhall of Salem, MA
He studied at Maryknoll Seminary and then Our Lady of Angels Seminary, Niagara, New York. He was ordained to the Priesthood on May 28, 1960 at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle, Washington, DC. His first assignment as Parochial Vicar was at St. Bartholomew Parish, Bethesda, MD in 1964, he was appointed Associate Chaplain at the Catholic Student Center at the University of Maryland, and then as Chaplain in 1967. In 1973, Monsignor Kane was Director of Campus Ministry and then to Director of Priest Personnel in 1986. Monsignor Kane was appointed Vicar General, Moderator of the Curia and Chancellor of the Archdiocese in 1988. In 1994, he was appointed Pastor at Little Flower Parish, Bethesda, MD, where he served until his retirement in 2004 and continued there in residence until his death.
The Vigil will be held on Wednesday, December 13, from 3 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., followed by Vigil Mass at 7 p.m. at Church of the Little Flower, 5607 Massachusetts Ave., Bethesda, MD 20816 and where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, December 14 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Little Flower Parish.
