EDITHA SENKO "Dita" (Age 63)
Passed away peacefully at her Washington, DC home of 30 years on Friday, July 14, 2017. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 18 at DeVol Funeral Home, 2222 Wisconsin Ave, NW Washington, DC 20007, in Georgetown, from 6 to 8 p.m. (Complimentary Valet Parking Available). A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, July 19 at 11am at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, with interment in the Foreign Service section of the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Dita was born on September 17, 1953 in Bohol, Philippines. She moved to Washington, DC in 1987 where she married Foreign Service Officer Michael Senko. She served with him with distinction as spouse of the Chief of Mission in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia and as the Ambassador's spouse in the Marshall Islands. She also served with distinction as mother to three children, to whom she was wholly devoted and dedicated. Of her many accomplishments, her role as a mother and wife brought her the most joy. Dita was much beloved and respected everywhere, including the diplomatic communities, Boholanos of Greater Washington, Blessed Sacrament congregation, Chevy Chase and Lafayette Elementary community. She will be missed for her effusive energy, her nurturing spirit, and unrivaled lumpia.
Dita is survived by her husband, Ambassador Michael Senko (Ret.); daughters, Faye Dalida [Jonathan] and Sharon Senko; son, Michael Senko and grandson Christian Dalida. She is also survived by her siblings in the Philippines, Marcelinda E Busano, Victoria E Angeles, Rogelio L Escober, Eduardo L Escober, Basilio L Escober and Josenilo L Escober, and many other family members including nieces and nephews who all adored her. She is preceded by her parents Juan and Lucrecia Escober, and Michael and Lucille Senko.
