Daniel Boyle died on July 3, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children.
Dr. Boyle had a successful career as a family practitioner. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Pittsburgh.
Dan received his undergraduate degree from Wheeling Jesuit College in West Virginia and graduated from Georgetown Medical School in 1973. In 1974, he joined the family practice of Drs. Thomas Cullen and Ernie Cornelsen in Forrestville, Maryland. In 1992, Dr. Boyle opened his own practice in Silver Spring, MD. In 1996, he became the Chairman of Family Medicine at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2001, Dr. Boyle joined Dr. Michael Maroldo in the practice of family medicine in Cape May, NJ. He enjoyed the practice of family medicine through 2016 when he and his wife, Margie, retired to Naples, FL.
A man of great faith and a voice for the unborn, Dan was extremely active in the Right to Life Movement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and hosted a weekly medical talk radio show for several years. He served as an adjunct professor of Medicine at Georgetown Medical School and George Washington University.
Dr. Boyle authored the book, Sports Medicine for Parents and Coaches, in 1999 and was drafting his second book at the time of his death.
Daniel Boyle will always be remembered by his children as a loving and dedicated father and a devoted and exemplary husband who never passed up the opportunity to dance with his wife in the kitchen. He was a man of many interests and talents. A true “Renaissance Man,” Dan enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams, and was a voracious reader and lifelong learner who was committed to making the interests of his 12 children, his own. He will be missed.
Dr. Boyle is survived by Margaret (Rowan) Boyle, his wife of 47 years, as well as his 12 children: Justin (Amy)Boyle , Elizabeth(Michael) Gillson , Jude (Gina) Boyle, Eamonn Boyle, Kathleen(Phil) Coady , Daniel (Lisa)Boyle , Aloysius (Colleen)Boyle , Bridget(Kevin) VanBuskirk , Charles(Sarah) Boyle , Mary(David) Tootle , Molly Boyle, Rose Boyle and his 41 grandchildren. He leaves behind 7 brothers and sisters as well as his mother, Theresa Boyle.
The funeral mass for Dr. Boyle will be celebrated at the
Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in
