Betty J. Reardon

On Friday, January 27, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Timothy J. Reardon, Jr. (Ted); beloved mother of Timothy, III (Dorothy) and beloved nana of Sarah, Samantha (Alexander), Timothy, IV (Lauren), Joseph (Jennifer) and John (Alexandra). Also survived by nine adoring great-grandchildren, Cally, Hunter, Robert, Chloe, Timothy, V, Taylor, Harper, Payton, Riley; and family co-matriarch and very dear friend, Eftehia (Happy) Swagart. Survived as well by her nephew, Michael Peterson (Chere) and best friend of over sixty years, Mae McDonald. This good woman of boundless humanity, energy, and curiosity lived every day to its fullest for her family and friends. She possessed an uncommon wisdom about life which rested upon her strong faith. She brightened the lives of all whom she met with her warmth and wit. She volunteered in the surgical waiting room at Georgetown University Hospital for nearly four decades. Betty loved the ocean, the sun, football, convertibles, music (e.g., Bee Gees, Sinatra), the Visitation Sisters, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, the Jesuits, white wine, cold beer, the Tombs, Martin's, steak and politics. She was a gardener, painter and avid reader of everything. She opined freely. She loved the planes, sunsets and stars she watched - childlike - from her balcony. However, she took the greatest pleasure from loving her family. A life on earth superbly led, she now returns to the waiting embrace of her beloved Ted. She has missed him so. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 6, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, 1315 36th Street, NW. The family will receive friends at Holy Trinity beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Febuary 6 until the time of Mass. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery on February 15 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contribution be made to the Sisters of Georgetown Visitation, 1524 35th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007.
