Anna I. Fine
Fine, a long-time resident of Washington
D.C., died on Saturday the 31st of
December at Forest Hills of DC, a nursing home. She was the widow of
Sherman J. Fine, a US Foreign Service officer. During their 50 plus year
marriage, Anna and Sherman lived abroad and traveled extensively before
settling in Washington DC in 1986.
1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut,
Anna received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Connecticut and her Masters of Arts
degree from American
University. She was
a retired teacher of English as a second language and she taught in Washington DC
and in various countries where she and her husband resided.
loved learning and teaching. In particular, she enjoyed the conversation with
her international students and learning about their culture and personal
stories. She developed many friendships through her teaching experience.
survived by her son, Alan, and her grandsons, Max and Sam, all of whom live in San Francisco and brought
joy to her later years. Anna would speak to her grandsons on a weekly basis to
discuss their lives and share their passion for the San Francisco Giants and
Golden State Warriors.
Anna will join Sherman at Arlington Cemetery
in a service that is to be scheduled at a later date.
