Anna I. Fine

Anna I. Fine, a long-time resident of Washington D.C., died on Saturday the 31st of December at Forest Hills of DC, a nursing home.  She was the widow of Sherman J. Fine, a US Foreign Service officer.  During their 50 plus year marriage, Anna and Sherman lived abroad and traveled extensively before settling in Washington DC in 1986.

Born in 1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Anna received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut and her Masters of Arts degree from American University.  She was a retired teacher of English as a second language and she taught in Washington DC and in various countries where she and her husband resided.

Anna loved learning and teaching. In particular, she enjoyed the conversation with her international students and learning about their culture and personal stories.  She developed many friendships through her teaching experience.

Anna is survived by her son, Alan, and her grandsons, Max and Sam, all of whom live in San Francisco and brought joy to her later years. Anna would speak to her grandsons on a weekly basis to discuss their lives and share their passion for the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors.

Anna will join Sherman at Arlington Cemetery in a service that is to be scheduled at a later date.
