Robert E. Linthicum

 Of Ocean City, MD on June 24, 2016. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Robert E., Sr. and Elizabeth Linthicum. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maureen O''Neill Linthicum; daughters, Karen (Paul) Sniegon of Murfreesboro, TN, Donna (Jeff) Berns of Cherry Hill, NJ; son, Robert (Susan) Linthicum of Chantilly, VA; grandchildren, Billy (Gail) Redfern, Mandy (Bill) Droeger, Robert Redfern, Kristen (Daniel) Garcia, Matthew and Adam Berns, Hope, Luke and Grace Linthicum; nine great-grandchildren. Bob grew up in the Brookland neighborhood in Northeast Washington. He graduated from St. Anthony Catholic School, Gonzaga College High School (''47), Georgetown University (''51) and Georgetown Law School (''57). He was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1948 to 1977, when he retired as a Lt Colonel. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in combat as a weapons company tank platoon leader. He retired from the Federal government after working for the Civil Service Commission, the Central Intelligence Agency in Vietnam, and the Federal Communications Commission. He also had previously worked at GEICO and had his own private law practice. After moving to Ocean City, MD in 1984, he was a magistrate judge for the Worcester County District Court and also worked at and enjoyed many rounds of golf at the Pine Shore Golf Course. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. July 18, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on the campus of Gonzaga College High School, 19 I Street NW, Washington, DC. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on July 18, at St. Aloysius. Parking is available in the Gonzaga parking garage. Private interment will be July 19, at Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, VA. Donations in Bob''s name may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation; and USMC Tankers Association.
