Suzanne Marie Toppino Colligan passed away peacefully Sunday evening, January 17, 2016 after battling cancer for more than 13 years. Suzanne is the daughter of the late Martin Emmett Toppino (a gold medalist in the 1932 Olympics) and the late Elva Paletou Toppino.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, J. Kevin Colligan and son, Patrick M. Colligan, both of Silver Spring MD; her sister, Charlotte Toppino Fagan of New Orleans, LA, and her 101-year-old stepmother of 56 years, Fanny Gagnet Toppino, also of New Orleans, and was preceded in death by her sister, Sr. Jacqueline Ursula Toppino OSU.
A Catholic Mass of celebration will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 3513 N St. NW, in Georgetown at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 20. Another Mass of Celebration will be held in New Orleans at the Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor (at Ursuline Academy, Suzanne''s secondary alma mater) on Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to either Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School (1524 35th St. NW, Washington DC 20007-2785) or to Ursuline Academy (2635 State Street, New Orleans LA 70118-6399). Both were very close to Suzanne''s heart.
