Frederick J. Bellamah
Frederick Joseph Bellamah, 93, of Washington, DC, passed away November 18, 2015, after a brief illness.
Fred was born on November 14, 1922, in Aurora, NC, to Bellamah Bellamah and Ava (Awad) Bellamah. Fred served in the Marines during the Second World War and fought in the Battle of Peleliu. The G.I. Bill afforded him the opportunity to attend George Washington University, graduating with degrees in business and law in 4 years. In 1951, he founded Bellamah, Neuhauser & Barrett, Inc., the brokerage firm he managed for 55 years. He continued to work until he was 85, and pursued his great passion, fly fishing, into his 80's as well. In addition to running his firm, for many years Fred volunteered his services as a financial advisor to religious orders. A devout Catholic, Fred was sustained throughout his life by his trust in God. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his daughter, Susan Brittany Tavar, his sister, Victoria Philips, and his brother, Victor Bellamah. Fred is survived by his sister, Zalpha Ratter, his children Stephen, Patricia, Fr. Timothy Bellamah, O.P., and Andrew, as well as his grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrew Jr., Veronica, Sophia and Christopher.
A funeral Mass will be held on December 1, 2015, 11:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4835 MacArthur Blvd., NW, Washington, DC 20007. The Reverend Timothy Bellamah, O.P., will preside. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park.
