On June 17, 2020, Seong Ja Yang passed away at her home in Darnestown, Maryland.

Born on January 7, 1945 in Seoul Korea, she was the fourth of six children of Chong Bong Won and Chul Soon Hahn. She is survived by her beloved husband, Earl Tong Yang, and her four daughters, Pia Choi, Suejin Yang, Sue Mi Ko, and Susie Lee. She was a loving sibling to Chang Yon, Chang Suk, Shin Ja, Hye Uk, and Myong Suk Won, and a dedicated grandmother to Isabel Choi, Luke Choi, Christian Choi, David Choi, Connor Lee, Andrew Lee, and Bella Lee.

A devoted wife and mother, Seong Ja tirelessly advocated for the welfare of her family, both immediate and extended. She gave generously and made countless sacrifices to ensure the happiness and safety of her loved ones. She embraced her family and friends with utmost compassion and warmth, finding joy in helping others through challenging times.

As a businesswoman, her work ethic was unparalleled. She awoke every morning at 5:00 a.m. to attend to a wide range of responsibilities. She commanded loyalty and respect from her employees while meticulously managing the day-to-day affairs of her successful business, which she and her husband ran for over thirty years. She loved to be productive and excelled in the many responsibilities she held.

Seong Ja was also a faithful Christian and active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She hosted large gatherings for newcomers, contributing to the growth of the church. She exercised her faith with grace and enthusiasm.

Seong Ja was a hero to many, and she will be deeply missed.
