Rosalie Agnes Hoffman
Of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Mrs. Hoffman was the third child born to John Michael Kuhlman Sr. and Anna C. Schreiber in Baltimore, MD. Rosalie had two sisters, Cas and Loretta, and one brother, John Jr., whom she was close to their entire lives.
Rosalie met her husband Herman in Baltimore, MD and realized they grew up in the same neighborhood. They were married in Baltimore at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948.
She devoted her life to public service for more than 40 years, working for the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, HHS, ADAMHA, EEO, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Growing up during the Great Depression, she gained a deep sense of community that never left her and guided her in her path in life – from serving the Federal Government her entire career and her local church to dedicating her life to her family. She was the person always there, always sending a prayer, always just what you needed.
Mrs. Hoffman was a lifelong devout Catholic, a loving wife, dedicated mother and grandmother, and loyal and generous friend to many. She always said her life was a journey to bring her closer to her Lord, and every day she never lost sight of that light, serving as an inspiration to all those around her. In her personal memoirs written for family, she said, “All one needs to do is praise God by letting Him know how great He is. Humble yourself. Offer your life to Him. That should be enough to merit Heaven for you.” She was a wonderfully gentle and kind person, firm in her beliefs and faith, and compassionate to everyone.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Herman; her daughter Laura and son Mark; son-in-law Pace and daughter-in-law Elsa; grandchildren Boone, Nick, Chelsea, Leah, Charlie, and Dylan; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, friends may call at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 9000 Warfield Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20882 on Friday August 14, 2020 from 10:30AM to 11:00 AM where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM. A private burial ceremony for immediate family will follow. Flowers for the service may be sent to the church; the family is also suggesting donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Rosalie’s name.
