On Monday, December 30, 2019 Mary Catherine Gray (nee Carney) of Germantown, MD.
Mary was the third child born to Joanne and Charles (also known as “Biggie”) Carney. She joined her two older sisters Teresa and Sue at their home on Andrew Court in Wheaton. A few years later the house was full, with two additional sisters, Carolyn and Maureen.
Mary went to St. Catherine Laboure for 1st through 8th grade, Belt Jr. High for 9th grade and then on to Wheaton for her high school years She made many friends from her early years and still kept in touch with many of them up through the time of her death.
The highlight of her life was meeting her husband Chris. They married in 1992. The two enjoyed the early years of their marriage traveling, camping and entertaining friends. Before long their first born, Connor, came along and the role of parenthood took over. Timmy joined the family two years later and then Christy came along to complete the Gray family of 5.
Mary’s dream of being a stay at home mom came about in 2002. Mary dedicated her time to her children’s activities. She was actively involved in the PTA, Cub Scouts, Classroom Volunteer and serving as an advocate for the needs of her kids. She was also fighting the lymphoma battle since that time.
The family moved for a short time to Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland after spending many weekends enjoying the mountains and lakes. The family also enjoyed the beach and vacationed along the eastern shore states. That resulted in a family vacation home in Ocean City.
Mary and Chris continued their attraction to travel and were fortunate enough to travel to numerous destinations – usually involving a beach!
We are sad that Mary is no longer with us, but we are happy knowing that she is experiencing pure joy and love with all her loved ones who have gone before her; we think of it as an endless vacation!
