Rich grew up in the Pittsburgh area along with brothers Mark (Theresa) and Kevin (Carol) and sister Paula (Stan) Bikulege. Rich attended West Virginia University obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Business. As time went by, the family grew to include many nieces and nephews, and Rich’s love and devotion to them grew as his family grew.
After graduating college and moving to the Washington, DC area, Rich met his husband, Larry Ambrose, and settled into a home in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC along with their cats, Darren and Samantha.
Rich began a career in the public health arena, first with the American Nurses Association before joining Every Child By Two (ECBT), now known as Vaccinate Your Family (VYF). He was also a founding member of the Immunization Coalition of Washington DC (ImmunizeDC). He expanded his selfless work by volunteering with organizations such as the LGBTQ Fallen Heroes, Monday Night Gay Skating, and many others.
