O'HEARN ISABELLE THERESA NAUGHTEN O'HEARN (Age 104) April 22, 1915 - May 10, 2019 Of Washington, DC and Stone Harbor, NJ, Isabelle O'Hearn passed away peacefully in her home in the loving presence of her family shortly after a severe stroke. A fourth generation Washingtonian, she was the third of six children of the late James Clancy Naughten and the late Isabelle Kingston Murphy, raised at the former Terra Cotta estate. She was baptized at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart and attended Saint Gabriel's School and Notre Dame Academy ("32). She was graduated from Rosary College (now Dominican University) ('37) in River Forest, IL, and earned her Masters degree from National Catholic School of Social Services at The Catholic University ('39), and was a member of Pi Gamma Mu National Social Science Honors Society. While working with Catholic Charities in Washington, she met through mutual acquaintances and married the late James Edward O'Hearn of Boston, MA in 1942. She was mother to the late Stephanie O'Hearn and is survived by her daughter, Maureen O'Hearn Slowinski (Francis Hill) and son James E. O'Hearn, Jr. (Maria Pilar) of Washington, DC, grandchildren Christopher Hill Slowinski, Caitlin Slowinski Steed (Jeremy), William Brooke Slowinski, Erin Snowden Slowinski, and Jacob T. O'Hearn (Lisa), and two great granddaughters Caroline Isabelle Steed and Audrey Rose O'Hearn. She traveled with her husband on FBI assignments throughout the US, and around the world while he was serving in the Central Intelligence Agency including a posting in Karachi, Pakistan. Isabelle dedicated 12 years as a parent volunteer at Stone Ridge Country Day School of The Sacred Heart, especially with their annual Christmas Bazaar. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed periodic theme dinners with friends and fellow Stone Ridge parents. Isabelle was a member of the parish of Our Lady of Victory Church and was active in the Sodality. She cherished her vacations at the New Jersey Shore and her home in Stone Harbor, especially taking walks along the beach with her children and grandchildren, treating them to Springer's ice cream and activities at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4835 MacArthur Blvd., NW, Washington, DC from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass in Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Christian Burial will be scheduled for Tuesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. Donations in memory of Isabelle O'Hearn may be made to Catholic Charities of Washington DC, 924 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20010 or to Stone Ridge Country Day School.Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4835 MacArthur Blvd., NW, Washington, DC from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass in Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Christian Burial will be scheduled for Tuesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. Donations in memory of Isabelle O'Hearn may be made to Catholic Charities of Washington DC, 924 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20010 or to Stone Ridge Country Day School.
