Richard C. "Mac" McCullough

Richard C. “Mac” McCullough, 86, died December 16, 2016 at his home in Gaithersburg, MD. He is survived by his wife Minette to whom he was married for 68 years; four children, Catherine Shultz (Michael) of Annapolis, Richard McCullough, Jr. (Kimberley) of Midlothian, VA, Mindy Blandon of Washington, DC, and Charlie (Leslie) McCullough of Clifton, VA.; eleven grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Richard McCullough, III, and his brothers Robert and William McCullough.

Mac had a 30 year career with the federal government, which included service with the State Department, the National Security Agency, the Internal Revenue Service, the Civil Service Administration,and Office of Personnel Management.  He was the Director of Training at the Internal Revenue Service and the Deputy Director, Bureau of Training at the Civil Service Commission. After leaving the federal government, he served as Vice President of the American Society for Training and Development and lateras Executive Director of the Instructional Systems Association.

Mac was born in Washington, DC, to Robert W. McCullough and Edith M. L’Hommedieu, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and George Washington University.  He and his wife lived in Kensington and Potomac before moving to Asbury Methodist Village in 2005.  Mac was very active in community associations and the PTA during his children’s youth.  He was an active resident at Asbury and Faith United Methodist Church, Rockville, MD, where he and Minette attended for more than 44 years. 

A memorial service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 6810 Montrose Road, Rockville, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,  December 28th .  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith UMC or The Asbury Foundation Benevolent Care Fund, 201 Russell Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD, 20877.
