June (nee Welsh), of Potomac MD, passed peacefully on Sept. 15, 2015 after suffering a stroke at the age of 92.  She was born July 7, 1923 in Waukegan, IL  and grew up in Chicago , attending Austin High School and becoming an executive secretary at Marshall Field.  June enlisted in the U.S. Marines on her 20th birthday, rose to the rank of sergeant and served two years as a drill instructor during WWII. After the war she came to Washington and for a time worked for the Washington Post in the Promotion Department. She married Joseph McCoy November 20, 1948 by whom she had seven children. She is survived by her husband, sister  Patricia Sheffer of Monticello IL, two daughters Linda Ballinger (Stephen), Mary Beth Hincke (John) and five sons Mark (Harriet), Matthew (Sandra), John (Leatha) Timothy (Sally) and Kevin (Terry), 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces and their children. 

Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm where services will be held on Saturday September 19, 2015 at 10:30 am. 

Inurnment at Arlington Cemetery will be at a later date.
