Clarence EUGENE Bradley of Gaithersburg, Maryland passed peacefully on Thursday, July 4th 2019, at the age of 94.
He is survived by his wife Frances Bradley of 67 years, a son Rodger Bradley and wife Rose, daughter Barbara Walker and husband Roger, and son Aubrey Bradley and wife Tara. Also survived are brothers; Robert Bradley, Marion Bradley, Joe Bradley and sister Marie Erskine. Preceded by a son Danny Bradley; brothers; Luther Bradley, Charlie Bradley, Cleveland Bradley, Austin Bradley and sisters, Mary Bradley, Christine Johnson and Catherine Sams.
Born September 1, 1924 in Craig County Virginia; he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. O.C Bradley of Flat Mountain near Alderson, West Virginia. One of 12 brothers and sisters; Mr. Bradley was raised and worked on the family farm until joining the military. Mr. Bradley was a CPL in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, two Bronze Stars as well as a Purple Heart.
Mr. Bradley retired from Carl Freemen after working there 30+ years. Due to his passion for hard work; he then worked at Chatel Real Estate in Washington, DC as a maintenance engineer. Mr. Bradley had a strong love for music, especially bluegrass which he passed along to his family. One of his all-time favorite singers was Bill Monroe and loved to attend bluegrass festivals with his wife.
Mr. Bradley was a devoted Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Gaithersburg where he was an usher and a Sunday School teacher for many years. One of his many accomplishments was being the church’s groundskeeper for 54 years. He took great pride in his contribution to the church and truly relished the friends he’s made in the community.
Family meant everything to Mr. Bradley and was the anchor that made his family so strong.
Survived by granddaughters, Cindy Trey, Dawn Udy, Denise Keefer, Jenny Page, Jessica Francis, Dionna Forrest; grandsons; Richard Bradley, Brad Bradley, Cameron Bradley, Chris Bradley, Austin Bradley, Callahan Bradley, Kevin Bradley; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may at call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Pathways Baptist Church,200 West Diamond Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11 am. Full military burial services will be held at Parklawn, Rockville, MD following the funeral services. In lieu of flowers; the family is asking for donations to either the Alzheimer’s Association or JASSA Hospice of Rockville.
